NEWS

Happy National Poetry Month!

This year is the 14th National Poetry Month celebrated in Canada. Poets across the country will be considering and writing
poetry about the 2012  theme:

Balance: Cultural, Creative, Community, National, Environmental, Economic, Personal, and Social. Poetry will be celebrated, read, discussed and shared throughout the month of April, marked by the annual Young Poets Week, which highlights the immense poetic talent in Canadian youth. Visit the League of Canadian Poets website for news on poetry events near you. (and stay tuned to Youngpoets.ca for more information about Young Poets Week!)

Young Poets’ Week, April 15th – 21st will feature exciting projects and initiatives, across the country and online. YP site will be offering youth a chance to have their poetry critiqued by established mentors on-line. For the fifth year running, young poets will have the opportunity to post poetry videos on our forums alongside professional poets, filming in Canada and around the world. In association with the LCP, the National Film Board of Canada’s Mediatheque in Toronto will also be partnering in the celebrations. Check out their free guided viewing list of poetry films featured on their digital viewing stations during April 2012: www.nfb.ca/mediatheque.
