Welcome Our New Editor, Monique!

Dear Readers,

Summer is upon us! As we welcome the long days and beautiful weather, I would also like to announce some important changes to the Re:verse editorial team. I have had the great pleasure of assisting editors Stephanie Hallett and Amy Carlberg with this Summer issue and will be taking over as editor beginning in Fall 2010.

Stephanie Hallett has been an editor with youngpoets.ca and Re:verse for five years, and both the magazine and website have blossomed and grown in truly wonderful directions under her editorial guidance. Amy Carlberg, who began as a reviewer for Re:verse, has been the editor of Re:verse for the past year, and her creativity and editorial skills have made for an exciting year of issues. I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to both Stephanie and Amy for their hard work on Re:verse and commitment to fostering new poetry and writing in Canada.

I have worked with the League of Canadian Poets since 2009 and have had the great experience of working with the League’s membership of over 700 poets. I have contributed to Canadian Art magazine, Open Book Toronto and Northern Poetry Review and am incredibly excited to work with Re:verse and its talented contributors and readership.

We're off to a great start with this issue. The poems we received about the power of the sun ranged from spicy to funny to reverent. It's amazing how what gives life to us all can be seen in so many different ways. This issue also boasts a great review by Sophie Blom of Laisha Rosnau's book Lousy Explorers, which was shortlisted for the 2010
Pat Lowther Award.

Please join me in wishing Stephanie and Amy all the best in their future endeavours! Have a fantastic summer and I will see you again in the fall.

A Message from Stephanie:

Thank you for five wonderful years. I have grown enormously as a writer, editor, web publisher and human being through my work with Young Poets. I look forward to the new and dynamic directions in which both YoungPoets.ca and Re:verse will travel under Monique's editorship. Much love and gratitude to the whole League of Canadian Poets family.
